How to Cook the Perfect Tomahawk
Ingredients
- 1 USDA Prime 38 oz Tomahawk steak (The Champ)
- Sergio’s Seasoning (to taste)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons Maitre d’ Butter
- Optional sides: Roasted garlic mashed potatoes, creamed spinach
Directions
- Let It Rest: Take the steak out of the fridge at least 45 minutes before cooking to bring it to room temperature.
- Season Generously: Coat the steak on all sides with Sergio’s Seasoning. This blend brings out the natural flavor of the beef with the right hit of salt and pepper.
- Sear: In a hot cast-iron skillet with olive oil, sear the steak for 3–4 minutes on each side until a golden crust forms.
- Finish in the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Transfer the skillet with the steak to the oven. Cook until the internal temperature reaches your preferred doneness (125°F for rare, 135°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium).
- Rest Again: Let the steak rest for 10 minutes so the juices redistribute.
