The #1 Bar & Lounge

ONE FIFTH AVE

THE #1 BAR

The #1 Bar at Golden Steer's One Fifth location brings back a Greenwich Village fixture that first opened in 1934. The space has been lovingly reimagined with details inspired by its original character, where a mirrored ceiling, dark paneling, and moody lighting capture the extravagance of a bygone era. Pass through the Art Deco revolving door into a 16-seat cocktail lounge wrapped in tufted vinyl booths, curved banquettes, and glittering fixtures that nod to the Golden Era of Las Vegas. The drinks honor that legacy too, with signature fizzes mixed to the original #1 Bar recipes alongside new creations like a tableside Showgirl and a Gibson finished with housemade pickles. It's a space built to carry forward a tradition of late-night conversation, expertly made cocktails, and unforgettable nights.

Step into a place that makes you feel like the main act. Carrying the golden glow of old Las Vegas, with its midnight shimmer and easy swagger, the #1 Bar settles into its New York home as if it has always belonged. Classic charm with the lights turned up, where past and present raise a glass together.

COCKTAILS 'TIL CURFEW

The #1 Bar at One Fifth Avenue in New York City has long been a cornerstone of Greenwich Village’s vibrant cultural scene. Opening as a supper club in 1934, it helped launch entertainers like Dorothy Lamour and Paul Lynde. Over the years, it evolved into a lively steakhouse-piano bar, attracting artists, musicians, and late-night crowds. Through every era, the #1 Bar has embodied the enduring, ever-changing spirit of New York nightlife.

A CULTURAL MAGNET

In the mid-1970s, George Schwarz and his wife Kiki Kogelnik took over the space and turned the bar into a beacon for downtown's art and entertainment set. Patti Smith, Robert Mapplethorpe, and members of the Saturday Night Live cast were among the regulars who made it as much a cultural fixture as a place to drink, a run that lasted until the bar closed its doors in 1981.

VEGAS GLAMOUR, VINTAGE SOUL

Today, The #1 Bar is reborn as the heart of Golden Steer's first home outside Las Vegas, where Sin City glamour meets Greenwich Village charm. Channeling the same electric energy that's defined the Steer since it opened on the Strip, tuxedoed bartenders shake classic cocktails with old-school precision, while gold accents and velvet touches nod to the showroom sparkle of Vegas's golden era. It's a bar built for late nights and big stories, carrying forward decades of nightlife history under one roof.
